The value that a library brings to a community is well documented and researched internationally but this is not currently being recognised here. A library is at the centre of any community and it acts in ways we are not always mindful of. If a fraction of the money that is been thrown at this scheme was given to librarians to invest in new books then communities would benefit. Libraries are to be lauded for the way they help vulnerable people in our society. A functioning library, staffed by real people is a valuable asset to any society.
